[Digital Today Reporter Hyunwoo Choo] Clubhouse, which provides audio-based mobile SNS service, has a chance to rebound again with the release of an Android app.
In an interview with CNBC on the 25th (local time), Paul Davidson, CEO of Clubhouse, said, “Millions of people have been on the waiting list since the launch of the Android app this month.” “I’m watching.”
Clubhouse, a closed SNS that requires an invitation to sign up, recorded an explosive increase in the number of subscribers after the release of the full iOS version in January of this year. However, the number of subscribers gradually declined after peaking at 9 million in one month in February, and in early May, the number of subscribers was stagnant.
After the release of the Android app on May 19, the number of subscribers has turned to increase again. In the meantime, the Clubhouse was able to be joined by Apple iPhone users.
Currently, the Clubhouse has more than 10 million users every week, creating more than 300,000 chat rooms every day. The average residence time per user is more than 1 hour, which leads to social media with relatively high loyalty.
CEO Paul Davidson explained, “After the release of the Android app, users in other regions, such as Europe and Asia, outside of North America have increased. The user class is gradually diversifying.”
Unlike other social network services, the clubhouse is characterized by being able to sign up by receiving invitations from existing subscribers. Clubhouse plans to continue the app subscription system based on invitations and waiting lists for the time being.
Meanwhile, the Club House is spurring support and fostering of various creators. In March, we announced the’Creator First accelerator program’, and last month introduced a payment function to provide a new function for users to pay for creator activities.
