It is also a preliminary social enterprise that helps migrant women’s communities become self-reliant. Gongshimchae’s Kim Bu-gak set, introduced through this funding, is a product made with commercialization funding that was selected and supported in the local creator activation support project organized by the Jeju Center last year.
An official from the Jeju Creative Economy Center said, “Jepi is a Jeju word that calls’chopi’, and it is a unique spice with a tangy taste and a fresh aroma. In Jeju, it is enjoyed in early summer by putting it in mulhoe or miso. Gongsimchae is a representative local food and spice in Jeju, called Jepi. “We developed a boutak set by grafting basil, which is called’the queen of herbs’ in the West, to Bugak, a traditional Korean food,” he said.
The funding, which was opened on April 15, reached 100% of the target amount in one day, and exceeded 325% of the target amount by a month before the end of May.
Gongsimchae has been designated as a Jeju-style social farm in 2020, selected as a △2017 Jeju-style social innovation idea △2019 Local Food-based Social Model Contest Grand Prize △2020.
