On April 28, 2021, the IOTA Foundation will activate the most important upgrade of the last few years, Crisalis. The migration (migration) of tokens to the new wallet environment, Firefly (Firefly), begins next Wednesday (21st). This was reported by YouTube on the 16th (local time).
Users do not need to transfer tokens from the old IOTA wallet Trinity to Firefly.
The IOTA Foundation guarantees users that tokens can be moved after the migration period or April 28th. There is no need to rush. Meanwhile, IOTA holders who store tokens in Ledger Nano hardware wallets (cold wallets) have to wait about two weeks. Binaries and instructions for migration will be published soon.
At the heart of IOTA’s Firefly are two Rust-write libraries. One is for app development and the other is called Stronghold, which is responsible for security. The new wallet is protected by an encrypted backup and a secure memory enclave (a sensitive operation that must be placed in an isolated memory slot).
Firefly’s deal is approved much faster than its predecessor, Trinity’s. Firefly’s users can easily manage multiple accounts and restore their wallets across multiple devices with the patented Stronghold backup.
The development team brings numerous additional features to the upcoming system, including chat and contact management modules, NFT storage, and seamless wallet integration.
Crisalis is a term used to define a series of “most promising” upgrades that make the network available for enterprise use prior to the final launch of the IOTA 2.0 mainnet (aka Coordicide).
The release of Crisalis is proceeding in two stages. Since the first phase launch, the network’s throughput has increased to 1,500 TPS.
The IOTA Foundation highly valued Chrysalis’ potential in terms of transaction security, speed and dApp performance.
